Nose

PX sherry vibes straight off the bat. Raw leather, stewed fruits and wet tobacco. Rich, dark and fruity, with a savoury edge.

Palate

A great mouthfeel, coating the entire mouth. It belies the high ABV, with everything picked up on the nose turned up a notch. Wisps of smokiness weave their way through the stewed fruits, adding another layer to the mix.

Finish

Medium in length, although, to be fair, I haven't been leaving much time between sips. It's just that good.

With Water

Opens up nicely! Ginger and baking spices emerge on both the nose and palate, while the stewed fruits take a step back and more woodiness comes through. There's also a noticeable drying sensation along the sides of the tongue now, something I didn't pick up before adding water.

Thoughts

Dangerously drinkable. Pace yourself, though. At 63.7%, this one isn’t taking any prisoners. Really glad I’ve got a couple more of these tucked away.
