Region: Western Cape

South African whisky is finding its own identity, and the Western Cape is playing an important part in that story. From the James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington to Metanoia Distillery in the Karoo and Boplaas in Calitzdorp, these producers are making whisky in a landscape and climate very different from Scotland.

This is our growing collection of tasting notes for South African whiskies made in the Western Cape, covering different distilleries, styles, ages and cask influences. It’s a small but increasingly interesting part of the South African whisky story – and one we’ll be keeping an eye on.
