The Kaya FM Wine & Malt Whisky Affair is back for another year! This is the 3rd year the worlds of wine and single malt whisky have been brought together by Wade Bales and his team and it promises to be a cracker, especially with Old Mutual coming on board too. The official branding of the event is:
KAYA FM Wine & Malt Whisky Affair, brought to you by Old Mutual in association with Wade Bales Wine Society
Quite a mouthful hey? π Running over two evenings, this fantastic event brings you closer to the wines and whiskies you’ve always wanted to taste.
This year 35 of South Africaβs premier wineries will be on show, presenting 2 of their flagship wines for you to enjoy. Firm favourites like Rustenberg, Mulderbosch, Ernie Els, and Delaire-Graff are back, and the list of whiskies are equally as impressive. Although I would say that, being a bit biased. π
Let’s dive straight into the list of whiskies you will be able to taste at the KAYA Wine & Malt Whisky Affair 2013, brought to you by Old Mutual and presented by the Wade Bales Wine Society.

Whiskies to watch out for
Man, there is a great line-up this year! Whiskies that I will definitely be trying include the Laphroaig 18YO, Glenfiddich 15YO Distillers Edition, Lagavulin, pretty much any of the Japanese whiskies and the awesome Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 2!
When, where and how much?
The Firs Shopping Complex in Rosebank will be hosting the event again on Thursday 30 May and Friday 31 May. The doors are only open for 3 hours, from 6pm to 9pm, so be there as the doors open otherwise you won’t get to see, let alone taste, half of what is on offer.
The price of a ticket hasn’t gone up either! You’ll pay R150 per ticket and that includes all wine and whisky tasting, a complimentary glass, a selection of artisanal breads, meats and cheese. Tickets are available from Computicket or the Wade Bales Society.
I shouldn’t have to say it as you’re all responsible adults right? But I will anyway… Please, please, please remember to Drink Responsibly and get your ride home organised when you book your tickets.

SlΓ‘inte!
I have missed last year event, so this year is my time to enjoy the smooth taste of good whisky with good company. Looking forward to taste The Balvenie 21YO
Wow, I was skeptical about buying tickets but did anyway. Seeing the list of whiskies has made the wait till Friday all the more agonizing. Cant wait. and btw … thanks for the extra info on the event. Appreciated π
Glad I could help Jon! It’s going to be a blast. See you there
Oh my!! This event blew my socks off. What a great evening of whisky.
There was no way I could have sampled EVERYTHING, but hey … I tried π
Some on the list above wasn’t available like the Laph 18YO and the Tun 1401.
Had the:-
Ardmore,
Macallan 12YO,
Jura 16YO,
Dalmore Cigar Malt,
GlenFiddich 14,15 & 21 YO,
Balveni 21YO,
Glenlivet 18YO,
Arbeg 10YO,
Bunnahabhain 12,15 YO
Nikka (cant remember name)
Lagavulin 16YO – which I’m going to buy today bcos this was by FAR the best for me.
Did not have the Tali, HP, GlenMo’s & the Laphs cos I have them in stock and opened at home. Would have loved to try more but I didnt want to have a bad experience.
BTW – Was driven home by stone-cold sober driver π Cannot for the life of me understand the person that even has a single drink and wants to drive.
